A group under the aegis of the Concern Citizens of Oru West LGA (CCO) has uncovered plots by some persons in the area to make the Sole Administrator of the Council Mr. Ikenna Adikibe as the All Progressive Congress APC chairmanship candidate
This is coming as the September 21 Local Government Election in Imo State draws closer.
In a statement issued Monday in Owerri, and jointly endorsed by the Coordinator Mr. Uchenna Monday and the Secretary, Comrade Wilfred Osundu,the body vehemenyly frowned at the gang up in the council area to scuttle the chances of Oru North block of producing the next chairman of the council through installing the former Sole Administrator Mr. Ikenna Adikibe s the party candidate for the September 21st Local Government Election in Imo State.
The group declared their resolve to resist such plans to install somebody as the APC candidate who is not an acceptable and accessable candidate in the entire Council Area.
The group observed that Oru West LGA currently has two political blocks which is Oru North and Mgbidi block as the case may be but regretted that Mgbidi block have continued to dorminate the Oru North block by denying them their shares and rights of appintment, or being elected into key positions both in the state and in the Local Government Area.
They revealed that as it stands the current Commissioner for Works Engr. Ralph Nwosu as well as the Commissioner for Power, Chief Oguchienti are from Oru West LGA and Mgbidi block in particular.
According to them, the current House of Assembly member representing Oru West State Constituency, Hon. Dominic Ezerioha hails from Mgbidi political block, yet the people of Oru North block has not been considered for any appointment or elective positions
They said: “the people of Oru North block in Oru West LGA should be allowed to produce the next chairman of Oru West LGA. We vowed to resist any plot to deny the people their right to produce the chairman of the council”.
They said: “there is need for even spread of positions among the communities”.
The body who described the plot to make the currrnt Sole Administrator of the council as both unconsititutional and inpunity, pointing an accusing fingers on some of the politicians in the area including the Commissioner for Works Engr.Ralph Nwosu, Commissioner for Power, Chief Oguchienti and the House of Assembly member for Oru West State Constituency, Hon. Dominic Ezerioha.
The group equally revealed the clandestine plans to install 10 other Local Government Area Sole Administrators in Orlu zone as APC chairmanship candidate by some politicians in the area is coming because of the senatorial ambition of Engr. Ralph Nwosu in 2027.
He said that giving such plots going on, there has being sponsoring of series of meetings to perfect the plots.
