The Mbaise Welfare Association South Africa recently celebrated their New Yam Festival on September 1st, 2024, in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The event featured a road show, masquerade parade, and donations for the association’s secretariat/plaza building in Imo State, Nigeria.
The President of the Association, Emeka Osuigwe PhD emphasized the importance of preserving their cultural heritage, stating, “Our culture is our heritage.”
Eze Gilbert Nwanna, Chairman of the organizing committee, praised the members for their support in making the event a success.
Notable attendees at the event included Patron Julius Oparachukwu Ojilere, Rev. Patron Chris Oguala, VP Tochi Peters,, Chief Emma Ajaegbu, and Hon. Udochukwu Anoruo.

The event showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Mbaise people and reinforced their commitment to preserving their traditions.
The association’s president, Dr. Emeka Osuigwe PhD, promised greater achievements in the coming year.
