Federal Housing Authority Begins House Verification In South East

The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has commenced a house verification exercise in the South East zone, urging property owners to come forward and verify their properties to avoid demolition or disorderlines

Executive Director, Estate Services, Federal Housing Authority of Nigeria, Arc. Nya-Etok Ezekiel, made the call during a briefing with journalists in Owerri.

According to him, the exercise, which started on Thursday at the FHA’s Zonal Office in Owerri, aims to tackle challenges such as dilapidated houses and infrastructures, as well as unwholesome practices leading to multiple allocations of land.

Ezekiel noted that the FHA has made significant strides in establishing renowned estates across the country, but negligence has resulted in several problems.

“We are calling on our allottees to come to the office and have their properties verified,” Ezekiel said.

He noted that the verification process is sectioned into two parts: House Verification and Land Verification, with House Verification taking off first.

Ezekiel emphasized the importance of digitalization in the process, saying it will provide peace of mind and security for property owners.

He stated that the FHA has already commenced the exercise in the North Central and South West zones.

Ezekiel expressed optimism that the new leadership will restore the pride, dignity, security, and status of FHA estates.

He acknowledged the enormity of the challenges but assured that the FHA is ready to take bold steps to address them.

The Executive Director called for understanding and cooperation among property owners and allottees in the South East to move forward.

The FHA has five estates in Owerri alone, including Egbeada, Graceland, Arugo, Lower Irete, and Aladimma Estates.

He stated Property owners are to report to the FHA’s Zonal Office in Owerri for verification to avoid any unpleasant issues.

The exercise is expected to bring orderliness and decency to the FHA’s processes and records” he said.
