Failed APC LG Aspirants Set To Get Refund Of Forms Fee

Reprieve has come for aspirants in Imo State who purchased Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms of the All Progressives Congress for Chairmanship and Councillorship tickets, but failed to secure the party tickets.

The APC had adopted a consensus method to select candidates for Councillorship and Chairmanship positions, leading to the selection of 27 Chairmanship candidates and 305 Councillorship candidates.

However, the process did not go down well with some of the aspirants who grumbled over the method

Governor Hope Uzodimma had assured before the primary that those who failed to secure party tickets would be refunded if they are of good behaviour.

Initially, the party in a statement, stated that the Governor’s statement was a mere suggestion, but in a sharp turn of events on Sunday, Uzodimma reassured that aspirants who failed to get tickets would be refunded from Monday, September 16.

According to him, the refund will only cover funds spent on purchasing forms from the party, excluding expenses made without receipts, such as those spent on consultations and campaigns.

Governor Uzodimma who spoke at Government House, Chapel, on Sunday urged the aspirants to remain steadfast, objective, and consider the greater good of the party and the state above individual interests.

He also pleaded with leaders, whose expectations may have been disappointed, to bear with the party and make sacrifices for the party.

The Governor reassured the public that the local government election will proceed as scheduled by the Imo State Electoral Commission (ISIEC) on September 21, 2024.
