Imo LG Election: Two Women Emerge Chairpersons

The just concluded Imo local government election produced two chairpersons.

Nkechi Mbonu and Chika Ibekwe won the Okigwe and Ngor-Okpala LGA chairmanship seats, respectively.

14 women secured vice chairmanship positions.

The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) hd presented certificates of return to the newly elected Chairmen and councillors on Wednesday.

The APC dominated the polls, winning all 27 council areas and 305 electoral wards.

However, opposition parties have disputed the results, calling for cancellation.
