CHAN Qualifier Against Ghana: Eguavoen Snubs Heartland Players

No player from Heartland FC of Owerri was included in Nigeria’s squad for the upcoming Africa Nations Championship, CHAN qualifier against Ghana.

CHAN is organized by the Confederation of African Football, CAF. Nigeria had failed to qualify for the last two editions.

The tournament is for players who play in the national League competitions on the continent.

The next edition would be held in Kenya in 2025.

Head coach, Augustine Eguavoen announced his 35-man squad on Saturday to play Ghana next week.

Multiple players from Enyimba of Aba, Rivers United, El Kanemi Warriors, and Remo Stars, made the roster.

The absence of Heartland FC players in the CHAN squad has raised speculation about the club’s recent form in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, managed by ex international, Emmanuel Amuneke.

Heartland has not had an impressive run in the NPFL league this season.
