Owerri Farmers Celebrate Municipal Chairman, Extend Gratitude To Uzodimma, Ebere

Farmers in Owerri Municipal, under the aegis of All Farmers Association of Nigeria, AFAN, have congratulated the newly elected Chairman of Owerri Municipal Council, Hon Engr Chidiebere Emeribe.

The farmers drawn from various wards in Owerri Municipal and led by its Chairman, Obinga Francis Igwe, commended Emeribe on his election in the just concluded local government election held in the State.

In his address during a courtesy call on the Executive Chairman at the Council headquarters, Owerri, Obinga Igwe, also thanked the good people of Owerri Municipal for electing Emeribe, especially for the rare potentials they have seen in him as a visionary leader which manifested glaringly during his tenure as Sole Administrator of the Council.

He also commended the Chairman for his peace initiatives in Umuihugba Umuodu Autonomous Community.

The farmers also congratulated Governor Hope Uzodimma on the recent Supreme Court Judgement which reaffirmed his second term tenure, stating that the Governor has been partnering with farmers both at the local and State levels.

Igwe also called on the governor to continue his support for farmers in the State.

He also congratulated the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Sir Mac Donald Ebere, PhD, and the APC Owerri Municipal Chairman, Chief Ibezim, for working hard to ensure the emergence of councillors in the municipality.

In his response, the Executive Chairman of Owerri Municipal, Hon (Engr) Chidiebere Emeribe commended the farmers for the visit and show of solidarity.

He said farmers have played major role in stabilizing the economy of the State, stating that he will encourage and revitalize farming in Owerri municipal as soon as possible.

He said the Agriculture Department of Owerri Municipal Council, has been revived to play a leading role to boost agriculture and revive farming in the municipality.

He also said he will encourage registered farmers in the area, assuring that if farmers are given adequate support, no one would go hungry.

“Without farmers there will be no food. Plans are on to revive farming and farmers in Owerri municipal would be encouraged” he said.
