Governor Hope Uzodimma seems to have kept in the dark his allies and friends across the three geo political zones in the State with his complete silence on his succession plans.
A year after being re elected for a second term, there has been intense media speculation on who takes over from the Governor in 2027.
Also, those interested in taking over from him, especially from his camp and within the All Progressives Congress, APC, have begun subtle moves to realize their ambitions.
However, the governor’s silence on who succeeds him have put his close allies interested in his seat in suspense.
A top politician from Owerri zone who spoke to INNONEWS on condition of anonymity said Uzodimma’s silence on his succession plans is really keeping those who want to take over from him in suspense.
“He has carefully kept quite about it. He never talks or discuss it because I believe ,for him , the time is not ripe to do so. I believe he is focused on keeping a legacy the State would remember him for” he said.
Uzodimma, at the Government House Chapel, Owerri, on Sunday, in commemoration of Christ the King, spoke on his achievements and what he intends to leave behind as governor.
He said he would like to be remembered for providing constant electricity for Imo people , quality infrastructure, roads, good healthcare, and a good educational system
He also said he would like to be remembered as a leader who did not abuse the office both God and man gave to him.
He said he would not be distracted by the attacks on social media because it is only a fruitful tree that attracts stones from children.
While the congregation waited for him to make a comment on his succession plans, he shied away from the issue, thus leaving many of his friends and associates in suspense of the intense media speculation on who takes over from him in 2027.
