The Imo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the conduct of officers who disrupted proceedings at Orogwe Customary Court in Owerri West Local Government Area by carrying out an arrest within the courtroom.
The incident, described as a breach of protocol, has sparked public outrage.
According to reports, the officers involved were mobile police personnel attached to Ogbaku Police Station.
One of the officers, identified as Abubakar Mohammed, has already been apprehended and placed in custody as part of the ongoing inquiry into the incident.
Reacting to the development, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Okoye, confirmed that the situation is under control and that decisive action is being taken.
“The officers involved in the act have been arrested, and the matter is being thoroughly investigated,” he stated.
The police panel is expected to determine the extent of the officers’ misconduct and recommend appropriate sanctions.
