In a bid to address the controversies surrounding the ongoing construction of the Owerri-Mbaise-Umuahia Road, Ezuruezu Mbaise, the apex socio-cultural organisation of the Mbaise nation, has come out to set the record straight.
According to Comrade Eze Adiuku, President of the Federation of Mbaise Media Professionals (FMMP), “Ezuruezu Mbaise is non-political and non-partisan, and we fight for the interest of the generality of Mbaise people.”
Adiuku revealed that Ezuruezu Mbaise had thanked Governor Hope Uzodinma for awarding the contract for the road during a visit in November 2023. He also stated that the organization had sent a letter to the Governor to discuss the road project that spans across five local government areas.
“We are aware that some individuals have been spreading false information about the project, but we want to assure the public that Ezuruezu Mbaise is committed to ensuring the successful completion of the project,” Adiuku said.
He also clarified that neither Ezuruezu Mbaise nor its President General, Sir Surv Joe Anosikeh, had engaged in any online or physical meeting with any organization to discuss the project.
“It will be most unfair and embarrassing to drag Ezuruezu Mbaise or its President General into a non-existent political brickbat,” Adiuku emphasized.
In conclusion, Adiuku stated that the President General of Ezuruezu Mbaise, Sir Surv. Joe Anosikeh, is non-partisan, which is why the Mbaise nation has confidence in his leadership.
Meanwhile, Governor Hope Uzodinma had flagged off the construction of the Owerri-Umuahia Road, which is expected to boost economic activities in the region ¹.
The project, which is being handled by Craneburg Construction, is expected to be completed soon ².
