An elder Statesman and chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC) ,Chief Charles Ogbonnaya, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the construction of an international airport in Abia state.
He also lauded the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu, for his untiring efforts in attracting federal presence to the state.
Chief Ogbonnaya, a two time Commissioner in Abia state, was reacting to the groundbreaking ceremony of the airport at Nsulu by the Representative of President and Minister of Aviation, Barr Festus Keyamo
He said the people of Abia State should learn to be appreciative of Tinubu and the federal government for what they have been doing for the state since 2023.
” This is a government that has remembered Abia State. Through our son, Hon Benjamin Kalu, the president has done so much for us. The least we can do is to acknowledge him’the political strategist said.
Chief Ogbonnaya said it would be ungodly for anyone to attribute federal government projects to another administration in the name of politics and advised such people to retrace their steps.
According to him, apart from the airport project, the federal government has been bringing a lot of palliatives to Abia without those at the grassroots being aware of it.
Said he” we should learn to give honour to whom it is due. Tinubu has been doing a lot for Abia, but some people want to suppress that information. That is not fair. We should stop it”
He, however, commended the Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti for leading the state government to partner with the federal government on the airport project.
The former Commissioner also praised Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu for being a true representative of the federal government through the way and manner he has been projecting Tinubu’s policies and achievements in the state.
He noted that it was through the efforts of Kalu that Abia citizens became aware that the airport project was a federal government initiative.
He also praised the Deputy Speaker for attracting quality appointments for Abia sons and daughters since the coming on board of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
On the continued incarceration of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Chief Charles Ogbonnaya urged Ndigbo to be patient as efforts were being made for his release.
According to him, Igbo leaders are engaging with the federal government for the release of Kanu, assuring that it would not be long for the good news to be broken.
