Ahiazu Mbaise, Imo State, was a hub of festivity and grandeur on Sunday, December 29, 2024, as eminent Nigerians and dignitaries gathered to celebrate the Child Dedication ceremony of Prince Okwuchukwu Divine Nwandu.
The event, hosted by His Royal Majesty, Eze D.O. Nwandu, and his wife, Her Royal Majesty, Ugoeze Adaku Nwandu, attracted personalities from various parts of Nigeria and beyond, including the reverred and respected Eze Igbo Ghana, His Royal Majesty, HRM, Eze (Dr) (Amb) Mike Ihenetu.
The sacred dedication service was held at St. James Anglican Church, Ihitteaforukwu, where friends, family, and well-wishers joined in prayers for the newborn prince.
The officiating clergy delivered a heartwarming sermon that highlighted the importance of raising children in the way of the Lord.
The congregation was visibly elated as they witnessed the royal family dedicate their son to God in a ceremony rich with Christian liturgical traditions.
Following the church service, a lavish reception was held at the majestic Regal Residence of Eze D.O. Nwandu in Umuezeariam, Ihitteaforukwu. The royal palace was adorned with elaborate decorations that reflected the cultural richness of the Igbo people, adding an extra layer of splendor to the already vibrant celebration.
Guests were treated to an array of traditional and continental dishes, alongside local delicacies that showcased the culinary heritage of Mbaise.
Eze Igbo Ghana, a prominent leader of the Igbo community in Ghana, led a delegation of distinguished personalities to the event. Their presence underscored the strong ties between the Igbo diaspora and their homeland.
Entertainment at the reception was nothing short of spectacular. Traditional dancers, masquerades, and a live band kept the atmosphere lively, as guests danced and celebrated late into the evening. The highlight of the event was a cultural performance by a local troupe, which narrated the history and heritage of the Nwandu dynasty through music and dance.
