A prominent chieftain of Orluzurumee, the leading socio-political group in Orlu Zone, Collins Opurozor, has issued a stern warning to politicians attempting to sow division within the zone. Opurozor, a former spokesman for the opposition in Imo State, accused some desperate politicians eyeing the 2027 governorship election of actively working to destabilize the Orlu by seeking to fragment the Orluzurumee group.

In a fiery statement, Opurozor made it clear that such efforts would not go unchallenged. He asserted that the unity of Orlu Zone, represented by the Orluzurumee group, was non-negotiable, and any attempts to divide the group would face fierce opposition. He emphasized that those who thrive on crisis, instability, and disunity are unfit to lead Imo state.

According to Opurozor, the future of Imo state should not be entrusted to individuals who prioritize personal political ambitions over the collective well-being of the people.

“Politicians who want to destabilize Orlu Zone for selfish reasons will be exposed and resisted by all means necessary,” Opurozor declared. “Those who have no interest in the peace and unity of Orlu cannot be trusted with the leadership of Imo state.”

Opurozor also addressed the current status of Orluzurumee, dismissing reports of an already-inaugurated executive committee for the group. He clarified that Orluzurumee is still in the process of reorganizing its structures and strengthening its grassroots base. The chieftain emphasized that the group is harmonizing various interests and would soon unveil a popular leadership that would reflect the collective aspirations of Orlu people.

“We are not yet at the point of inauguration. We are still rejigging our structures and bringing everybody together,” Opurozor said. “Very soon, a leadership that truly represents our people will emerge, and it will be one that addresses the concerns and desires of Orlu people at every level.”

Opurozor further called on politicians to focus on serving the people rather than the morbid and endless pursuit of political power. He warned that the 2027 election would be a turning point for Orlu Zone, stressing that leaders who have failed the people would be booted out, likening their expulsion to pulling out rotten teeth so that the mouth could “chew with ease.”

“This is a covenant year for Orlu,” he stated. “We will not tolerate leaders who have betrayed the people. Just as a rotten tooth is pulled out for the sake of the mouth, those who have failed will be removed to make room for progress and growth.”

In closing, Opurozor reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that Orluzurumee remains united and strong, adding that any politician attempting to manipulate the group for their own gain would meet stiff resistance. He urged the people of Orlu Zone to stay vigilant and committed to the unity and development of the zone, adding that the son of Orlu Zone, Governor Hope Uzodimma, has given Orlu people many reasons to be proud with his matchless achievements in the state.

As Imo moves closer to the 2027 gubernatorial elections, it remains clear that Orlu Zone will play a key role in shaping the outcome, with political figures like Opurozor vowing to do everything necessary to protect the unity and interests of their people.
