Andy Cole Offers Advice To Nigeria Born Chido Martin On Suceeding At Old Trafford

Former Manchester United and England striker Andy Cole has offered words of wisdom to 17-year-old Chido Obi-Martin, a Nigeria-eligible forward, following his impressive cameo against Fulham in the FA Cup. Despite Manchester United’s underwhelming team performance,

Obi-Martin’s contribution during his 67th-minute appearance drew praise from fans and pundits alike, according to Soccernet.ng.

Obi-Martin, who joined Manchester United from Arsenal last summer, has shown glimpses of his potential in the senior squad.

Andy Cole, a five-time Premier League champion and one of the league’s all-time leading scorers, commended the teenager’s courage and raw talent, describing his fearlessness on the field as a significant asset.

“He did well. Can I tell you why? At 17, what’s your fear? He doesn’t have anything to be scared of. If I was 17 and I came on, I’d try to ruffle a few defenders and score a goal, and that’s what he did because he’s in the senior team. He wouldn’t have done that if he was playing with his age group.” Cole said on the Rio Ferdinand Presents Podcast

Cole acknowledged Obi-Martin’s rawness but emphasized that such traits are natural for a young player just beginning to find his footing in top-flight football.

“When you’re raw and you’re 17, you have no fear. I looked at him yesterday, and he’s got a chance. He’s still rough around the edges, but you expect him to be,” the Premier League legend added.

The former striker also urged Obi-Martin to maintain focus and work hard to climb the ranks at Old Trafford. He highlighted the volatile nature of a professional football career, advising the teenager to stay grounded and committed to his development.
