The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, has reiterated his commitment to flushing out criminals from the state, emphasizing that crime fighting remains a top priority under his leadership.
CP Danjuma, who has been praised for his crime-busting strategies and community-focused approach to policing, has led sustained operations against kidnappers and terrorists, rooting them out from their hideouts in the forests and curbing guerrilla-style attacks.
Despite these successes, he acknowledged that certain challenges persist, particularly the issue of highway extortion by some officers, which continues to stain public perception. He expressed regret that the problem remains despite punitive measures but assured that efforts to curb such misconduct would not waver.
On Tuesday, the Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor on Public Orientation, Hon. Sir Collins Ughalaa paid a visit to the CP to relay public sentiment and strengthen ties between the police and the state government. During the meeting, Ughalaa commended CP Danjuma’s leadership, noting the command’s recent breakthroughs in crime-fighting.
Among the notable successes was the recent arrest of four suspected kidnappers in Irete, where arms and ammunition were recovered. The intelligence-led operation underscored the CP’s proactive policing strategy, which relies on community engagement, intelligence-driven tactics, and collaboration with other security agencies.
Beyond direct enforcement actions, CP Danjuma has strengthened synergy between the police and other security outfits, leading to the arrest of eight criminal suspects in Owerri West Local Government Area. Joint operations have resulted in raids on forest hideouts, the recovery of weapons, and significant disruption of criminal activities across the state. Improved intelligence-sharing and enhanced operational capacity have played a key role in maintaining security.
As criminal elements retreat into remote areas, the CP has intensified efforts to track and dismantle their hideouts. He assured that his command remains vigilant, ensuring that criminals fleeing from neighbouring states find no safe haven in Imo.
CP Danjuma expressed appreciation for the visit and encouragement from the Special Adviser, reaffirming his commitment to sustaining pressure on criminal elements while nurturing a stronger relationship between the police and the public.
