In what seems a bold and strategic political realignment that may reshape the political dynamics in the State ahead of the 2027 Imo governorship election, the Isu National Convention (INC) and the Owerri Zonal Political Mandate (OWZOPEM) have entered into a powerful and strategic alliance.
This historic partnership aims to end decades of marginalization, promote equity, and strategically position both groups for a dominant role in the 2027 elections in Imo State.
The agreement or alliance was formalized during a high-level meeting held at the residence of top politician and prominent political leader in the State, Prof. Vitalis Orikeze Ajumbe in Owerri, Imo State capital, at the weekend.
The alliance, this newspaper gathered, is a direct response to years of political imbalance and perceived exclusion suffered by both areas.
The well-attended meeting brought together influential political figures from both groups, who unanimously agreed on the need for power redistribution and equitable representation in the state.
At the core of the alliance, is a shared vision between the two groups.
High-profile politicians in the State such as Prof. Vitalis Orikeze Ajumbe, Captain David Mbamara r(etd), Dr. Batos Nwadike, and Chief Mike Nwachukwu, in their separate speeches at the meeting expressed strong commitment to ensuring the alliance delivers results.They vowed to unite the zones under a cohesive and actionable plan that addresses historical injustices.
A communique issued immediately after the crucial meeting and approved by all present stated as follows;
“That OWZOPEM and INC agreed that there’s absolute need for equitable distribution of political offices in Imo State, both at the Zonal, sub-zonal and local government area levels such that at all times every part of the State will have a sense of belonging in the government of the day.
“Pursuant to the 2027 governorship election in Imo State, OWZOPEM and INC will work together and in synergy with one another to elect a credible person to the office of the Governor, bearing in mind the need for equity, justice and fairness.
“In working together in this collaborative partnership, we shall consult with, and engage our brothers from Okigwe senatorial zone as well as the larger Orlu zone.
“OWZOPEM and INC shall develop an appropriate template for this collaboration” the communique stated.

Those who endorsed the communique on behalf of Isu Nation are: Dr. Batos Nwadike,(Oyi of Igbo land) National President, Ichie Hon. Kenneth C. Ndukwu,Vice Chairman ,Hon Barr. Kenneth Iwunze and Hon. Joshua Akagbusim.
