Billionaire businessman and founder of The Mazi Organization (TMO), Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi, has expressed deep shock and grief over the demise of Pascal Gabriel Dozie, the founder of Diamond Bank and a pioneer in Nigeria’s financial and telecommunications sectors.
In a heartfelt statement he personally signed, Dr. Amadi described Dozie’s passing as a monumental loss.
“The news of the passing of Nda Pascal Gabriel Dozie, one of Nigeria’s most visionary entrepreneurs and astute nation-builders, has left a profound sense of loss in my heart,” he said.
He praised Dozie’s extraordinary life, noting, “His journey was a shining testament to brilliance, innovation, and an unwavering dedication to Nigeria’s economic and technological advancement.”
Dozie, who passed away at 85, was widely recognized as a key architect of Nigeria’s modern financial systems. He was the former Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group and President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange. He also played a pivotal role in revolutionizing the telecommunications sector through his leadership at MTN Nigeria.
“A true pioneer, Nda Pascal Dozie not only founded Diamond Bank but also shaped a telecom revolution that transformed the nation’s digital landscape,” Amadi said.
Dr. Amadi highlighted Dozie’s character, describing him as a man of integrity, humility, and profound wisdom.
“Beyond his professional achievements, he was deeply admired across generations and acclaimed globally,” he remarked.
Reflecting on the impact of Dozie’s death on their shared home state, Imo,
Amadi said, “Our dear state, Imo, has lost an illustrious son, an intentional statesman, and a father figure who shared in our vision of transparency, accountability, and good governance.”
Amadi also noted that Dozie’s passing comes at a critical time.
“While we mourn his passing, especially at a time his wise counsel was most needed for realizing the Imo State our founding fathers envisioned, we also celebrate an extraordinary legacy built on excellence, foresight, and unrelenting commitment to progress,” he stated.
Calling for a befitting recognition of Dozie’s contributions, Amadi urged the Federal Government and the Imo State Government to immortalize him.
“May I appeal to the Federal Government and the Government of Imo State to accord a befitting immortality to this great icon in recognition of his many impactful contributions to nationhood,” he said.
Extending condolences, Amadi said, “On behalf of my family, the Jude and Juliana Foundation, and The Mazi Organization (TMO), we extend our deepest sympathies to the Dozie family, especially his beloved wife, Nda Chinyere, my brother Uzoma, and his siblings, as well as the entire Egbu community and Nigerians at large.”
