Two Ex Imo Govs, Former Minister Involved In Opposition Coalition Moves

by admin

A coalition of political heavyweights, including two former governors of Imo State, a former minister has teamed up with other notable politicians across the country in a bid to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

The group is spearheading discussions to form a united opposition capable of challenging the APC’s dominance in 2027.

One of former governors of Imo Stat is gearing up for a return to the Government House in 2027.

The coalition is being coordinated by former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, who is leading efforts to create a formidable political platform.

“This is not just about winning elections; it’s about offering Nigerians a credible alternative to the APC,” said a source familiar with the talks.

As part of their consultation efforts, the group has reached out to former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Although Buhari has declared his continued support for the APC, insiders suggest that some of his close allies are open to aligning with the opposition.

The coalition has also held discussions with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Obasanjo is said to be offering strategic advice on how to maintain cohesion within the opposition ranks and ensure their efforts translate into electoral success.

There are growing indications that the coalition may align with the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, a prominent figure in the coalition, has already joined the SDP from the APC.

His move is seen as a signal that the SDP could become the coalition’s unified platform.

“If they all move to the SDP, it would transform the party into a major force in Imo and nationally,”

“This would present the APC with its toughest challenge yet in the 2027 elections.” said a political analyst.

A former minister from Imo State, who is deeply involved in the coalition’s activities, is described as the “engine room” of the negotiations.

The activities of the coalition have ignited intense discussions across political circles, with many viewing it as a potential game-changer in the 2027 elections in Imo.

Observers believe that a unified opposition could disrupt the political status quo and pose a credible threat to the APC.

As consultations continue, the coalition’s next steps are being closely monitored. The possibility of a unified opposition front under the SDP banner could redefine the 2027 political landscape, not just in Imo State but across Nigeria.
