Rt. Hon. Ugochukwu Nzekwe, the newly inaugurated President General of Orluzurumee, has raised concerns over political distractions in Imo State, urging leaders to prioritize security and unity.
According to a statement signed by the group’s spokesman, Nnamdi Cos Ukwoma, Nzekwe emphasized the need to address pressing challenges affecting the state.
The Orluzurumee leader criticized recent political meetings by Okigwe and Owerri leaders focused on succession politics, describing them as untimely.
“This is not the time for political scheming,” Nzekwe declared.
He called for collaborative efforts among leaders to restore peace and stability, stressing that zoning agitations should take a backseat.
“Imo State is facing serious security challenges that demand our collective focus,” Nzekwe stated.
In his remarks, Nzekwe cautioned against scapegoating Orlu over its current position of producing the governor.
“No zone should be accused of insensitivity when our collective energy is needed to address pressing issues,” he emphasized.
The President General reiterated that Orlu’s focus remains on governance, not politics, urging support for Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration.
“This is about good governance, not party politics,” he said, adding that distractions could hinder the delivery of democratic dividends.
Nzekwe further called on leaders from all zones to work with the government and traditional rulers to tackle insecurity in Imo State.
“Only in a peaceful and united Imo can future elections and sustainable development be meaningful,” he said.
He assured that Orluzurumee is monitoring the situation closely and will not hesitate to take a stance when necessary.
“At the right time, we will make our position known, and it will be loud and clear,” Nzekwe states.
Apart from addressing political concerns, Nzekwe pledged to revive Orlu’s cultural heritage and empower its youth.
“Our culture, traditions, and values define us, and we will ensure their preservation for generations to come,” he said.
The Orluzurumee leader concluded with a call for unity and responsibility among Imo leaders.
“Together, we can overcome our challenges and build a stronger, more prosperous Imo State,” he concluded.
