The Imo State Football Association (Imo FA) has congratulated Kun Khalifat FC for securing a coveted spot in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), describing the feat as a landmark achievement for football in the state.

In a congratulatory message released by the Imo FA Media Team, the association’s Chairman, Barr. Ifeanyi Dike, expressed joy over the club’s impressive rise in Nigerian football and commended the management for their dedication.

Barr. Dike noted that the support extended to Kun Khalifat FC by the Imo FA played a significant role in the team’s successes.

He highlighted the association’s backing during their campaign in the Nigeria National League (NNL), where the team emerged as leaders of one of the Southern Conference groups.

“Kun Khalifat FC has shown resilience, discipline, and excellence, which has now earned them a well-deserved place in the NPFL. We are proud to have supported them on this journey,” the Imo FA boss said.

He further praised the team for braving all odds to qualify for the elite division of Nigeria’s domestic football league, describing their promotion as a victory for Imo football and a source of inspiration for other budding clubs in the state.

On behalf of the Imo FA Board, Barr. Dike extended heartfelt felicitations to the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Chukwudi Ahamefula, as well as the management, technical crew, and players for their commitment to excellence.

“You have made Imo State proud and lived up to your name as the Pride of Imo,” he added, urging the team to sustain the momentum as they prepare to compete among Nigeria’s football elite in the coming 2025/2026 season.

Kun Khalifat FC’s promotion comes at a time when football fans in Owerri are eager for top-flight action, especially after Heartland FC’s relegation last season. The achievement has ignited hopes of restoring Imo State’s reputation as a football powerhouse.
