The Owerri Zone Awareness Coalition (OZAC) has uncovered what it calls a grand conspiracy by some powerful political forces to deny Owerri zone the governorship seat in 2027.
In a statement signed by its President, Emmanuel Okwu and made available to INNONEWS, the group alleged that there are deliberate plans to discard the Imo Charter of Equity and perpetuate Orlu’s 24-year dominance, including blackmailing key Owerri leaders and hiring political contractors to destabilize the zone’s quest.
“Owerri zone is not a political slave in Imo. We will resist every attempt to undermine our legitimate aspiration for the governorship in 2027, OZAC said.

OZAC: There Is Ongoing Conspiracy To Deny Owerri Zone 2027 Guber Bid
The Owerri Zone Awareness Coalition (OZAC) has uncovered a grand and dangerous conspiracy orchestrated by powerful forces in the State aimed at denying Owerri zone its legitimate right to produce the next governor of Imo State in 2027.
Intelligence reports available to us reveal that this conspiracy is not only real but has now morphed from whispers and subtle sabotage into a full-blown plot to discard the Imo Charter of Equity. This Charter, painstakingly formulated by the Imo State Council of Elders, was designed to ensure a seamless and fair rotation of power among the three zones.
We are aware that certain political contractors and paid agents have been hired to attack, discredit, and delegitimize the Charter of Equity. Their recent utterances and surreptitious actions expose them as willing tools in this dangerous agenda.
Part of this sinister plan is to blackmail prominent leaders from Owerri zone, weaken their political standing, and frustrate any attempt to build a consensus around an Owerri zone governorship bid. These acts of desperation are nothing short of political gangsterism and an affront to the collective will of Imo people.
What started as a subtle joke in some quarters has now become an organized, well-oiled machinery to perpetuate Orlu zone’s political hegemony. This plot will fail. Imo State belongs to all of us, and no zone holds a superior title of ownership over the other.
We in OZAC will resist this injustice with every legitimate means available to us. Our determined and uncompromising quest for an Imo governor of Owerri zone extraction remains unshaken. We will neither cower nor be silenced by veiled blackmail.
It is glaring that those advancing this selfish and undemocratic agenda are mainly within the APC, using their privileged access to power to scheme against Owerri zone.
Their utterances and actions have left no one in doubt that they are strongly opposed to an Owerri zone governor come 2027.
Let it be clear: OZAC will not support another governor from Orlu zone after Senator Hope Uzodimma completes his tenure. The mood in Imo State is clear and unambiguous—the governorship must leave Orlu zone after 24 unbroken years of domination. Owerri and Okigwe zones have been marginalized for too long, and justice must prevail.
We are no slaves in a state we collectively own. Never again shall we allow ourselves to be hoodwinked or blackmailed into surrendering our rightful place in the political leadership of Imo.
We call on all well-meaning Imolites, particularly our brothers and sisters from Okigwe zone, to rise and support the call for justice, fairness, and equity. The continued political subjugation of Owerri zone is an insult to the principles of democracy and shared ownership of our state.
Enough is enough! OZAC will stand firm against any plot, any scheme, and any actor bent on frustrating the legitimate aspirations of the good people of Owerri zone. The time to act is now. The era of political intimidation is over.
Signed:
Emmanuel Okwu,
President,
Owerri Zone Awareness Coalition (OZAC)
