The Chairman of the National Forum of Political Advisers (NAFOPA), an association of political advisers to state governors across Nigeria, has congratulated Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda on his emergence as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing him as the right man to unite and expand the ruling party.
Speaking after a crucial meeting held at Transcorp Hilton in Abuja on Wednesday, the Chairman of NAFOPA, Chief Perry OPARA said Yilwatda’s emergence signals a fresh chapter for the APC, noting that his intellect and technocratic background offer a clear advantage in repositioning the party ahead of the 2027 general election.
Chief Perry Opara commended the choice of Yilwatda, describing him as “highly educated, vibrant, and a vast reservoir of knowledge who can lead with vision and competence.”

Chief Opara, who also serves as the Political Adviser to the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma — Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), made up of 23 APC governors — said Yilwatda’s leadership will strengthen internal cohesion within the party.
“We are confident that under Yilwatda’s leadership, the APC will find renewed strength and direction. His capacity to unify divergent interests and inspire younger Nigerians into politics will be a major plus for the party,” Opara added.
NAFOPA Chief emphasized that Political Advisers to governors are closely watching the party’s trajectory, expressing readiness to support Yilwatda’s success through strategic guidance and political engagement.
OPARA also called on party leaders and stakeholders to rally behind the new chairman, urging unity, loyalty, and commitment to part ideals in order to achieve a stronger APC.
“With his wealth of experience and modern approach to politics, we believe he can lead the party effectively” the group said.
Yilwatda, a former governorship candidate in Plateau State and Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction was announced the new national chairman of the APC at its NEC meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday.
