The South East Renewed Hope Agenda (SERHA), Imo State Chapter, had empowered over 4000 women and youths of Imo State with Mini Buses, Motorcycles, Generators, Sewing and Grinding Machines, Saloon Equipments, rice including cash.
The event which was graced by chieftains of APC and Commissioner for Youth Development and Talent Hunt, Dr. Emeka Mandela Ukaegbu (represented by the Covering Duty Permanent Secretary, Dr. Lady Dorathy Mirikwe), themed Empowering The Grassroot”.
Handing over the items to the beneficiaries, the National Coordinator of South East Renewed Hope Agenda, Hon. Belusochukwu Enwere, said the gesture by the SERHA was aimed at lifting indigent citizens, improving lives and reducing suffering, crime and violence in Imo State and the region entirely.
According to Enwere, “as ambassadors of SERHA, we are committed to reelecting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 to enable him improve good governance: development and good living in the region and the country at large, remarking that the South East has benefitted hugely from Tinubu’s administration especially the historic establishment of South East Development Commission (SEDC) and appointments of worthy sons and daughters of Igbo Enclave.
Enwere noted that the three billion dollars earmarked by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for infrastructural development in the South East will evenly strengthen the economy as investors would be encouraged to invest in the region.
Enwere called on the people of South East to continue to work solidly and cordially to ensure the reelection of the President who he lauded for working efficiently, productively and dutifully to edify Nigeria and making lives more bearable, meaningful and liveable for all persons irrespective of class, religion and race.
He hinted that SERHA is in all the states in the South East, having huge membership strength in the grassroots, stressing that by August 2025 a tour of SERHA in the region would be greatly launched, even as he praised Governor Hope Uzodimma for giving Imo good governance which he reflected is evidenced in the road, drainages, culverts bridges and flyover constructions, including youth rejuvenation via digital skills.
While explaining that the empowerment, powered by Chairman of Board of Trustees (CHIDI) of the group, the Deputy Coordinator, SERHA, Chukwudi Anyanwuocha, described the gesture as a milestone, assuring that other empowerment initiatives are going to be feasible in the state, just as the students free interest loans are going to be enhanced, among other gains, geared to improve wellbeing of the people of the region.
Commending SERHA and the Federal Government for touching indigent persons positively via the items and cash, the Commissioner for Youth Development and Talent Hunt, Dr Emeka Mandela Ukaegbu, who was represented by the Covering Duty Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Lady Dorathy Mirikwe, stated that Governor Hope Uzodimma has done a lot for the youth, urging the people to use the items judiciously, as well as maintain peace and remain law-abiding.
Earlier, welcoming the National Officers of SERHA, the APC Owerri Zonal Chairman, Hon. Justus Ogu, said South East had remained solid and supportive to the national government and would leave no stone unturned from reelecting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
Ogu stated that the party in the state is ready for the reelection move of the President, affirming that Renewed Hope administration has done a lot of goodies to the people of South East especially with the commissioning of the South East Development Commission and the appointment of sons and daughters of the region into the national government.
However, some of the beneficiaries had expressed joy over the empowerment items and promised that they would always remain committed to SERHA, as well as contribute greatly towards the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who they assessed as a good man with great vision to develop the nation.
Highlight of the event was the inauguration of SERHA Executive who included Ward, Local Government and Zonal Coordinators, saddled with the responsibility to help pilot the affairs of the group to fruition.
