A major philanthropic move is underway in Imo State as Mazi Chima Matthew Amadi, PhD, has commenced a statewide community tour aimed at empowering women across the 27 local government areas with a ₦100 million donation.
According to a statement signed by spokesperson of Amadi’s, The Mazi Organization (TMO), Cajethan Duke, JP, the initiative, flagged off on August 2, 2025, aligns with the annual August Meeting, popularly known as the “Home and Abroad Meeting,” where women return to their communities to support development causes.
Dr Amadi’s intervention comes at a crucial moment as communities seek stronger support for grassroots-driven projects.
“This marks a new dawn for Imo women and our communities. My intention is to listen directly, understand their realities, and support their efforts meaningfully,” Amadi said, as he kicked off the tour in Ngor-Okpala.
The Mazi Organization (TMO), his political structure, had earlier announced the ₦100 million fund, which will be distributed to 100 women-led community and faith-based organizations.
“Our women are the backbone of society. Their strength, wisdom, and commitment to family and development cannot be overstated. This tour is a testament to that recognition,” the statement quoted Amadi to have said.
According to Amadi, the engagements will offer him firsthand insight into the challenges confronting Imo women and the broader community. “Through these conversations, I hope to co-create solutions that will deliver real, lasting impact,” he said.
The Ngor-Okpala-born academic and human nutritionist reiterated his vision for an Imo State built on the pillars of accountability, inclusiveness, fairness, security, and opportunity for all.
“This is about a leadership that listens and responds,” he emphasized.
Amadi’s move, according to the statement represents a significant break from politics-as-usual.
“This is not grandstanding. It is a purposeful engagement with the people, especially women, whose roles in stabilizing families and society are unmatched,” the group said in a statement.
Describing the exercise as “the beginning of a new chapter,” the organization said: “The New Chima Amadi Dawn symbolizes the end of suffering and the birth of a new era where Imo citizens are respected, supported, and empowered to thrive.”
