Shameless, Baseless, Empty”- Abia Labour Party Chieftain Slams Lagos LP Chair For Attacking Peter Obi

Ifeanyi Ihejirika, a Labour Party chieftain in Abia State and one of the most vocal Obidients, has come down hard on Lagos LP Chairperson, Dayo Ekong, describing her recent comments against Peter Obi as “empty, baseless, and shamelessly aligned with the agenda of those who destroyed Nigeria’s democracy through brazen electoral fraud.”

Ekong had lambasted Peter Obi, declaring that the political influence he commanded in 2023 is fast fading, as reflected in the Labour Party’s poor performance in recent elections across the country.

She argued that Obi has lost clear political identity, accusing him of “hobnobbing” between the Labour Party and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a move she described as confusing and weakening to his credibility.

Ihejirika, a legal practitioner who spoke to newsmen in Umuahia said Ekong’s claims that Obi’s political influence is dwindling are nothing but “cheap propaganda” designed to demoralize supporters of the movement.

He insisted that the truth remains that Obi won the hearts of Nigerians in 2023 and was robbed by INEC’s collaboration with APC in the worst electoral heist in Nigeria’s history.

According to Ihejirika, the Lagos LP chair deliberately ignored the fact that in states like Imo, elections were massively rigged with the active help of security agencies and INEC officials who brazenly subverted the will of the people.

“How dare she cite Imo as an example? Everyone knows what happened in Imo was nothing but a charade packaged as an election. Votes were written in Government House, and results declared in total disregard of polling units,” he fired.

The Abia-born lawyer pointed out that Obi’s political strength is rooted in the people and not in compromised election results.

“Ekong should stop fooling herself. Obi does not need the validation of INEC’s fraudulent numbers to prove his influence. Nigerians see through the lies, and that is why the Obidient movement is growing stronger daily, despite the plots to break it.”

He described Ekong’s reference to the Edo governorship race and the recent Anambra bye-election as “convenient half-truths” that ignore the reality of state-sponsored rigging, intimidation, and outright vote buying that defined those contests.

“No genuine democrat should use manipulated outcomes as a benchmark for judging Obi’s influence. It is dishonest and insulting to the suffering Nigerians who believe in a new Nigeria,” Ihejirika declared.

The LP chieftain warned that such reckless statements from party leaders in Lagos only serve the interest of APC and their collaborators in INEC who are desperate to rewrite history.

“Instead of working to strengthen the Labour Party, Ekong has reduced herself to a mouthpiece of the enemies of democracy. If she cannot stand for truth, then she has no business leading a party birthed on integrity and people’s power,” he fumed.

He took a swipe at Ekong’s attempt to compare Obi with Chukwuma Soludo’s taunts.

“Soludo is a governor who has practically turned himself into a spokesman for APC. For Ekong to quote him approvingly shows where her loyalty truly lies. She is simply echoing the talking points of those afraid of Obi’s rising profile ahead of 2027.” he said.

He reminded Ekong that no amount of blackmail can erase the fact that Obi remains the only political figure today who commands organic followership across the length and breadth of Nigeria.

“From Sokoto to Enugu, from Lagos to Maiduguri, Obi is a household name. That cannot be said of any other politician in Nigeria today,” he said.

Ihejirika stressed that those attacking Obi are doing so because they know he is the greatest threat to the old order of corruption, bad governance, and rigged elections.

“They want to demoralize his supporters, but they have failed. In fact, every attack on Obi only strengthens the conviction of the Obidient family.”

“Dayo Ekong should pause and reflect on her own words. History will not be kind to those who stood with fraud and injustice against the will of Nigerians. Instead of pulling Obi down, she should channel her energy towards fighting the real enemies of democracy – the electoral thieves who destroyed the votes of the people.” Ihejirika concluded.
