As South West Tops Chart With Over 848,000*
The latest Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) data has exposed a shocking gulf in political participation, with the South East posting a miserable 1,998 new PVC online pre-registrations between August 18 and 24, 2025.
In the same one-week window, other zone surged with staggering figures.
The South West topped the chart with 848,359 registrations, while the North Central amassed 250,218.
The North West, often dismissed as struggling with insecurity, still managed 141,439.
The gap only widened further with the North East recording 77,652, and the South South 59,676—all of them miles ahead of the South East’s pitiful numbers.
The figures paint a dire picture of a zone asleep while the rest of the country mobilises for political power in 2027.
Some political observers who spoke to INNONEWS warned that such figures spell looming political irrelevance for the South East in the 2027 general elections.
“These numbers are not just poor; they are catastrophic. No region can hope to be taken seriously when it registers less than 2,000 voters while others are pushing past hundreds of thousands,” a civil society activist, Amadi Uche, said.
Some analysts insist the statistics point to only one reality: while other zones are arming themselves with numbers for political dominance, the South East risks becoming a silent spectator, reduced to mere rhetoric in the national conversation.
Though the registration process runs until mid-2026 according to INEC, with physical registration already underway nationwide, the latest figures remain a stunning revelation for the South East, and a red alert for urgent mobilisation before the region slides further into political irrelevance.
