Former Governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, has completed his takeover of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State, as his allies and loyalists under the Rebuild Imo political family have fully enveloped the party’s structure.
Most of the newly inaugurated state executive members are staunch associates of Ihedioha, who recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alongside him, further cementing speculations that the former governor is positioning ADC as his new political platform ahead of 2027 governorship election.
The official inauguration of the State Executive Committee (SEC) took place on August 27 at the party’s state headquarters in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
In his remarks, the State Chairman of ADC, James Okoroma, declared that the event signified a new phase for the party, which he described as committed to people-centred leadership.
He added that the ADC would now serve as a formidable force in Imo’s political landscape, anchored on integrity, transparency, and grassroots engagement.
Prominent members of the new state executive include Damian Ezeagu as Deputy Chairman, Greg Ihejirika as State Secretary and Kissinger Ikeokwu as Legal Adviser.
Others are Emeka Iroegbu, Deputy Financial Secretary; MacDonald Amadi, Publicity Secretary; Timothy Obodozie, Treasurer; Lawrence Nwadike, Organising Secretary; and Emedo Chika, Youth Leader.
The party also inaugurated zonal executives for Owerri, Okigwe, and Orlu zones, further consolidating its reach across the state.
With this development, it has become clear that Ihedioha’s Rebuild Imo structure has found a new home in ADC, effectively handing him the reins of the party in Imo.
