Bayern Munich have formally expressed interest in signing Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman from Atalanta this summer, according to The Athletic. The Bundesliga champions are said to be exploring a loan arrangement that would come with a hefty fee and an option to buy.
Lookman, who has emerged as one of Atalanta’s most influential attackers, is reportedly unsettled at the Serie A side and is pushing for a move.
The 27-year-old has already seen several offers from Inter Milan turned down, leaving him frustrated with the club’s handling of his future.
The Nigerian international has gone as far as issuing a public statement where he blasted the Bergamo outfit. “Atalanta broke promises made to me,” Lookman had declared.
Sources close to the player confirm that Atalanta remain adamant about not selling him to a direct domestic rival, effectively closing the door on Inter Milan’s pursuit.
However, Bayern Munich’s entry into the race could present a new twist in the saga, with the German giants keen to exploit the fallout.
While the Bavarians are confident of their pulling power, the uncertainty lies with Atalanta’s willingness to do business outside Italy. “With La Dea refusing to do business with their domestic rivals, it remains to be seen if they would be open to Bayern’s offer,” one report added.
