It is instructive to note Owerri Zone will, without question, produce Governor Uzodimma’s successor if the Charter of Equity is respected. That is not up for debate.
The real problem lies within Owerri itself. If the three major blocs—Mbaike, Mbaise, and Oratta—do not sit down and agree on which bloc should take the slot, expect nothing less than chaos. Uzodimma may one day look them in the face and say: Go and bring forth someone to succeed me What happens then? Commotion, rancor, and betrayal. Is this what we want?
We cannot continue to preach Charter of Equity while refusing to apply its principles in our own backyard. Mbaike has had Evan Enwerem. Mbaise has had Emeka Ihedioha. Short-lived or not, history has recorded their turns. Oratta has had nothing. Zero. That is the brutal truth. If zoning must mean anything, then Oratta deserves its due in 2027.
