In a new video on Wednesday that has ignited global attention, United States President Donald Trump declared that Christianity is facing an “existential threat” in Nigeria and announced that he has directed two members of the U.S. Congress to investigate the matter and report back to him.

Trump alleged that thousands of Christians are being slaughtered by radical Islamists, warning that his administration will no longer ignore what he described as “a humanitarian catastrophe.”
“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands and thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this manslaughter. I’m hereby making Nigeria a country of particular concern,” Trump said in the video.
He added that two congressmen have been assigned to “look into the situation immediately and submit a full report,” stressing that the United States “must act decisively to defend freedom of worship wherever it is under attack.”
