Prominent Imo scholar and social commentator, Prof. Protus Nathan Uzorma, has commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for approving and commencing the reconstruction of the Umuaka–Mgbagbano road in Isu Local Government Area of Imo State.
Uzorma, who serves as the Secretary of the Orlu Elders Council and Vice President of Orluzurumee, described the governor’s swift response to his appeal as a clear demonstration of responsive and people-centered leadership.
In a statement in Owerri, Prof. Uzorma expressed deep gratitude to Governor Uzodimma for what he called “an act of visionary leadership” that has brought renewed hope to the people of Isu and neighbouring communities long plagued by the poor condition of the road.
“I wish to express my profound gratitude to the visionary Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for graciously yielding to my appeal to reconstruct the long-neglected road from Afo-Umuaka to Mgbagbano,” Uzorma said. “The governor did not just listen; he acted with remarkable speed and has already commenced work on the road.”
He noted that he had, on several occasions, appealed to the state government to intervene, given the strategic importance of the road as a major link between communities in Isu and other parts of Imo State. “This vital artery has for years been a source of hardship to our people. Seeing it now being reconstructed is a dream come true,” he added.
Uzorma, known as Akwa Kuwara Aki 1 of Isu Ancient Kingdom, lauded Uzodimma’s broader developmental strides across the state, noting that his administration’s infrastructure renewal drive was transforming communities and restoring public confidence in government.
“I must commend the governor’s unwavering dedication to infrastructural development across Imo State,” he said. “As a social critic, I do not hesitate to highlight lapses where necessary, but today, I must acknowledge and applaud good governance in action.”
He also paid tribute to Chief Hon. Cosmos Madugba, popularly known as Ebube Isu, and other prominent sons and daughters of the area for lending their voices in support of the reconstruction project. “Their collective advocacy has shown that when leaders speak with one voice, progress follows,” Uzorma stated.
Recalling his earlier plea to the governor during his birthday celebration, Prof. Uzorma said: “I humbly appealed to His Excellency to make the reconstruction of the Umuaka–Isu road a birthday gift to me. I am thrilled to announce that he has graciously fulfilled that request.”
He called on Imo citizens to rally behind the governor, describing him as a leader committed to action, not rhetoric. “This project is a beacon of hope and a testament to a government that listens to its people,” Uzorma said. “We must all support Governor Uzodimma’s vision of building a greater Imo.”
