The Executive Council of Orluzurumee has appointed His Royal Majesty, Eze Dr. E. C. Okeke, the Eze Imo, as Grand Royal Patron and Supreme Traditional Father of the apex socio-cultural body.

The announcement was made on Monday when the Orluzurumee leadership, led by its President-General, Rt. Hon. Prince Ugochukwu Nzekwe, visited the monarch at his palace in Owerri to formally present the letter of appointment.
Nzekwe said the choice of Eze Imo was anchored on his record of fairness, cultural depth, and his respected leadership of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers. He noted that the new role would strengthen the organization’s cultural and developmental agenda.
In his response, Eze Okeke expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged to work closely with the group to reposition Orluzurumee as a strong socio-cultural force in Imo State.
He assured that the organization would be revitalised, saying, “Orluzurumee must rise again. We will rebuild its integrity, reposition its influence, and ensure that the Orlu nation takes its rightful place.”
Eze Imo also urged the group to collaborate with Governor Hope Uzodinma, whom he described as an illustrious son of Orlu, to further advance the organization’s objectives.
The monarch announced his readiness to host a larger strategic meeting of Orluzurumee stakeholders to draw up a roadmap for cultural revival and organizational restructuring. He directed the President-General to set up a committee to begin immediate work.
The visit ended with a renewed sense of direction among members of the delegation, who described the appointment as a significant boost for Orluzurumee’s resurgence.
