Orluzurumee, the apex sociocultural and development body of Orlu Zone, has launched a far-reaching initiative to institute a Comprehensive Performance Rating for all State and Federal legislators representing the 12 LGAs of the zone. The organisation described the move as bold, historic, and designed to strengthen accountability, deepen democratic participation, and accelerate development across the region.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Nnamdi Cos-Ukwuoma, Orluzurumee said the evaluation will be rigorous, transparent, community-driven, and completely non-partisan. It will also deliver the first consolidated, evidence-based scorecard of lawmakers serving the Orlu bloc.
A First-of-Its-Kind Accountability Framework
The statement noted that legislators will be assessed across five key areas:
- Legislative Performance (Bills, Motions, Debates, Oversight)
- Constituency Engagement & Accessibility
- Project Delivery & Empowerment Initiatives
- Development Advocacy & Government Partnership
- Support to the Governor and Stakeholders in Restoring Security
According to the organisation, the exercise is anchored on the conviction that quality representation is central to societal progress. It stressed that the people of Orlu deserve legislators whose actions reflect the realities, challenges, and aspirations of the Orlu nation, especially amid security concerns and developmental setbacks.
Robust Methodology with Strong Public Participation
The performance rating will draw from:
- Community and stakeholder opinion polls
- Field verification of constituency projects
- Review of public legislative records
- Direct interviews with traditional rulers, clergy, youth bodies, women groups, town unions, and professionals
- A Security Cooperation Index assessing peace-building contributions
All findings will undergo independent verification by the Orluzurumee Research & Evaluation Committee and a Special Evaluation Panel made up of traditional rulers, elders, professionals, retired senior civil servants, clergy, university scholars, women and youth representatives, and civil society monitors.
Transparency at the Core of the Process
The research phase will run from January 7 to February 7. Upon completion, Orluzurumee will:
- Release the official scorecards to the public
- Publish the full report online and through the press
- Forward individual performance summaries to each legislator
- Present the findings at a stakeholders’ summit
The final report will be formally approved only after review by the President-General, the High Council of Elders, and the Stakeholders’ Forum.
A New Dawn for Representation
Orluzurumee emphasized that the objective is not to witch-hunt or embarrass any legislator but to elevate standards of public service, amplify citizens’ voices, and strengthen the collective pursuit of peace, progress, and development in Orlu Zone.
President-General Rt. Hon. Ugochukwu Nzekwe reinforced this commitment, stating: “This is about truth. This is about accountability. This is about putting Orlu first.”
The group noted that with this sweeping accountability initiative, Orluzurumee sets a new precedent in leadership evaluation where performance is measured, published, and ultimately improved for the benefit of the people.
