A socio-cultural group, Orluzurumee Worldwide, has commended Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State for what it described as the restoration of peace, stability and development momentum in Orlu zone, saying the area has regained its pace under his administration.

The commendation was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the expanded leadership and stakeholders’ meeting of Orluzurumee Worldwide held on Saturday at the Orlu local government headquarters.

The meeting, which took place at the Mayor Eze Hall, was presided over by the President-General of Orluzurumee Worldwide, Prince Ugochukwu Nzekwe, in collaboration with Eze Emmanuel Okeke, chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers.

Traditional rulers, elected and appointed political office holders, technocrats, community leaders, as well as women and youth representatives from across Orlu zone attended the meeting, which deliberated on peace, security, unity and development.

In the communiqué, the group said Uzodimma’s interventions, particularly in security and infrastructure, have helped to restore normalcy and confidence in Orlu after years of instability.

Orluzurumee Worldwide subsequently passed a vote of confidence in the governor, describing him as a “noble son of Orlu zone” whose leadership has translated into tangible improvements in road infrastructure, power supply and overall security.

The group pledged its total and unwavering support for the Uzodimma administration and urged sons and daughters of Orlu, both at home and in the diaspora, to close ranks and work with the state government in the interest of peace and development.

Beyond endorsing the governor, the stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to unity, stressing that Orlu’s political relevance and sustainable growth depend on collective action anchored on what they termed “one voice, one destiny, one Orlu.”

They also resolved to institutionalise periodic expanded leadership and stakeholders’ meetings to serve as a platform for dialogue, consensus-building and coordinated decision-making across Orlu zone.

On security, the group said it would deepen collaboration with security agencies, community vigilantes and local structures, with emphasis on intelligence sharing and early-warning mechanisms to safeguard lives and property.

The stakeholders further announced plans to constitute a technical committee that will harmonise existing initiatives into a comprehensive development blueprint for Orlu zone, focusing on infrastructure renewal, human capital development, youth and women empowerment, and economic growth.

In addition, Orluzurumee Worldwide said it would continue to engage governments at all levels, traditional institutions, civil society and development partners to advance the collective interests and strategic positioning of Orlu zone.

The meeting also commended Prince Nzekwe for what it described as inclusive and visionary leadership, reaffirming Orluzurumee Worldwide’s resolve to remain a credible platform for articulating and advancing the aspirations of the people of Orlu.
