Peter Obi, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has ruled out the possibility of serving as a vice-presidential candidate in the 2027 general election.
Obi made the declaration on Sunday night during an X Spaces discussion, where he fielded questions on his political plans and leadership aspirations ahead of the next election cycle.
The former Anambra state governor said his political journey and accumulated experience were not geared toward occupying a subordinate position in government.
According to him, he has invested significant time and effort, including engaging with governance models across different countries, to prepare for the highest office.
“I am not travelling round the world to learn governance to be vice president,” Obi said during the session.
He expressed confidence in his capacity to lead the country, arguing that his background in business and public service places him in a strong position to drive national renewal.
Obi said he built his business interests from the ground up and claimed to possess more hands-on experience than other contenders, including the incumbent president.
Reaffirming his political ambition, Obi said he would be on the ballot in 2027 and called on supporters to remain steadfast.
“I know how to turn Nigeria around,” he added, appealing for public support and prayers as he prepares for the next electoral contest.
