The Action People’s Party (APP) has announced the formal declaration of Mazi Chima Matthew Amadi, PhD, into its fold, describing the move as a significant boost to its build-up towards the 2027 governorship election in Imo State.
In a statement issued on December 30, 2025 and signed by the Publicity Secretary of the party,, Mr.Cajethan Duke,, JP the party said Amadi’s official declaration would take place at Umuekwenne, Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area of the state.
The Interim State Executive Committee of APP said the development marks a defining political moment capable of resetting the political rhythm of Imo State as alignments ahead of 2027 begin to crystallise.
The party said its governance vision, anchored on Amadi’s Imo SEE Agenda of Security, Education, and Economy, is aimed at rescuing the state from economic hardship, insecurity, maladministration, leadership failure, and misplaced priorities.
According to APP, Amadi’s decision to identify with the party represents a clear vote of confidence in its ideology, core values, and commitment to selfless, people-centred governance.
The party leadership said Amadi’s entry brings added credibility, intellectual depth, and fresh momentum to its political movement at a time when many Imolites are yearning for a credible alternative.
APP said Amadi deliberately aligned with the party because of its emphasis on transparency, accountability, authenticity, and the genuine welfare of the people, describing the move as a convergence of shared principles rather than political expediency.
The party further described Amadi’s declaration as a watershed moment that effectively signals the formal commencement of the Imo 2027 political contest.
It said with Amadi now in its ranks, APP is positioned not merely as an alternative platform but as a formidable, forward-looking, and people-driven political force in the state.
According to the statement, Amadi’s administrative experience, intellectual capacity, and strong grassroots connectivity are expected to energise the party’s structures across Imo State.
The party added that Amadi’s entry is also expected to inspire a new generation of leaders who believe that politics can be conducted with integrity, moral clarity, and public accountability.
APP also called on Imolites across professional, social, and demographic lines — including youths, women, academics, traditional rulers, entrepreneurs, and civil servants — to align with the party ahead of 2027.
It reiterated that APP remains a platform free from godfatherism, assuring members of internal cohesion, teamwork, equal opportunity, and inclusive participation regardless of zone or background.
