Nigeria’s Super Eagles have played down reports of unrest in the team following their emphatic 4–0 victory over Mozambique at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, insisting the camp remains united and focused. The win secured Nigeria a place in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Speculation of a possible rift emerged after striker Victor Osimhen was seen gesturing towards Ademola Lookman moments before a corner kick during the match, a scene that quickly sparked widespread commentary across traditional and digital media platforms.
Reacting to the reports, team administrator Dayo Enebi Achor said there was no crisis within the squad, describing the incident as a minor misunderstanding between teammates that was resolved shortly after the game. He added that the players were in high spirits and fully engaged in training.
Achor also debunked claims that Jerome Akor Adams had left the team camp without authorisation, explaining that the striker briefly stepped out with permission to visit his mother, who was hospitalised in Fès, and returned within an hour.
