…Appeal for Construction Of Avu–Adapalm–Etekuru Road, Jobs
Youths from all the communities of Egbema, an oil-rich kingdom, under the auspices of the Egbema Youth Association, have vowed to give their solid support to the APC and Governor Hope Uzodimma as he continues his leadership of Imo State.
The youths also pledged to support whoever the Governor presents to succeed him before, during and after the election, with a view to consolidating what they described as his superlative performance.
They made the vow during a solidarity rally for the Governor at the Government House Gate, Owerri, on Thursday. One of the placards read: Egbema Youths Solidarity Walk for Senator Hope Uzodimma – Celebrating Six Years of Superlative Performance in Imo State.
Leading the youths, Prince Francis Uzor, Patron of the Egbema Youth Association, said the rally was organised to thank the Governor for what he described as his good works in Imo State, noting that his policies have improved peace, security and development, attracted investors and boosted the economy.
“All the youths in Egbema communities are here to happily demonstrate our appreciation to Governor Hope Uzodimma on his six years of superlative governance in Imo State.
“He is doing well, and today, in solidarity, the youths have decided wholeheartedly to work with you and support you as you pursue the dream of a better Imo State.
“Henceforth, Egbema youths are for Senator Hope Uzodimma. Where he is, that is where we will be. Egbema youths are solidly supporting him because of his good works. Owerri is so beautiful, the neatest city in Nigeria.
“Imo is peaceful and we are very happy. Since we cannot buy a car for the Governor, we are giving him our support. I charge all youths in Imo State to join the APC, the ruling party, to fully liberate this nation and push out bad eggs causing underdevelopment.
“Nigeria is at a point where everybody must speak out and join hands with the centre to make the country better. I call on all youths in Nigeria to be part of what is happening in their environment. They should not say it does not concern them.
“I advise Imo people, especially youths, to follow those supporting Governor Hope Uzodimma. He has the capacity for good leadership, which is evident in the quality of multiple roads and flyovers constructed, the sustenance of peace and security, and other achievements that have strengthened productivity and development.
“We stand on Hope Uzodimma’s mandate and see him as the best Governor in Nigeria. We plead that he remembers Egbema by fixing our roads and improving electricity. Whatever is good for good people, we want it in Egbema oil kingdom as it is in Owerri and other places. We apologise for any wrong we may have done against the Governor,” Uzor added.
Also speaking, President of the Egbema Central Youth Association, Comrade Deacon Henry Mayor Alimezie, appealed to the state government to provide jobs, electricity, roads and other basic amenities. He urged the Governor to compel oil companies operating in Egbema to employ local youths and fully implement the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
“The road from Avu through Adapalm to Etekuru and its environs is in bad condition. We are begging the Governor to intervene urgently to ensure its completion, as the project has been delayed by the contractor.
“We want the Governor to change the contractor handling the project and bring in Craneburg to complete it so that we can enjoy the benefits like others.
“Many Egbema youths are jobless. We need employment, especially from the oil companies operating in our communities. We are ready to engage the oil companies, but we want the government to intervene.
“There is no electricity in Egbema despite our oil resources. The Governor should urgently intervene. Egbema youths have come to plead with the Governor to forgive us and provide electricity, fix our deplorable roads and ensure the employment of our youths with fair remuneration. In return, Egbema youths will give him the necessary support to enable him complete his remaining two years,” Alimezie reiterated.
