*Hails Move As A Major Democratic Gain
The Directorate for Support Groups, Diaspora Affairs, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Imo State Chapter, has formally welcomed the entry of three eminent political leaders—Chief Achike Udenwa, former Governor of Imo State; Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, former Governor of Imo State and President of Imo Community Europe; and Hon. High Chief Tony Nwaribe, Chairman of the Association of Igbo in Europe—describing their decision as a significant democratic gain for the party and the state.
In a statement issued by the Director-General, Comr. (Dr.) Diamond Bryan Agu, the DG noted that the alignment of these leaders with the party reinforces its growing reputation as a credible platform for democrats committed to good governance, institutional reform, and people-centered leadership.
Chief Achike Udenwa, who governed Imo State for eight years and later served as Minister of Commerce and Industry, was described as a statesman of deep experience and broad national reach. According to the Director-General, Udenwa brings to the ADC a wealth of governance expertise, a solid grassroots following, and extensive national political connections capable of strengthening the party’s ideals of accountability, inclusive development, and economic revival.
Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, a former governor with a brief but impactful tenure, was praised for his long-standing legislative pedigree and policy-driven approach to leadership. The Directorate highlighted his uncommon democratic ingenuity, energy, and creative force, noting that his presence will help shape a governance ambiance rooted in the rule of law, institutional efficiency, and progressive public policy.
Hon. High Chief Tony Nwaribe was commended for his strong diasporic influence and organizational capacity. As President of Imo Community Europe and Chairman of the Association of Igbo in Europe, Nwaribe is expected to galvanize diaspora support, mobilize resources, and deepen international engagement in the collective quest for a better Imo State.
The Director-General, who is also the DG, South East ADC Mobilisation Network (SEMN), further described the Support Groups Directorate as a strategic hub of mobilization within the ADC Imo State Chapter, coordinating the activities of support groups across the state and the diaspora. It reaffirmed its commitment to projecting a healthy, friendly, and people-oriented image of the party through sustained public engagement, civil society partnerships, mobilization, and media-friendly initiatives that resonate with Imolites.
Expressing optimism about the party’s growing momentum, the Director-General said Nigeria can be likened to a patient in an intensive care unit of a hospital with dysfunctional medical facilities, managed by an unqualified medical practitioner.
According to the media guru, he described the APC style of governance and policies as psychiatrically oriented on all frontiers, lacking a policy-driven approach to leadership, and called on all well-meaning citizens of Imo State and Nigerians at large to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in rescuing Nigeria from the intensive care unit, stressing that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) remains the only beacon of hope for Nigeria.
