The Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) says it will soon commence a coordinated grassroots mobilisation across Imo State to defend federal reforms, deepen public understanding of the policies of President Bola Tinubu administration and strengthen the organisational reach of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The move followed the inauguration of Local Government Area (LGA) coordinators of the group, which was formally announced at a press conference addressed by the Imo State coordinator of RHA, Goodluck Opiah, in Owerri on Monday.
Opiah said the expansion of the group’s structure at the local government level was a deliberate strategy to take government messaging beyond elite circles and ensure that policy explanations reach communities where misinformation often thrives.
He described the Renewed Hope Ambassadors as an advocacy platform established to promote and defend the policies and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while also serving as a feedback channel between citizens and government.
According to Opiah, Imo State plays a strategic role in the movement, noting that Governor Hope Uzodimma serves as the Renewed Hope Ambassador and national leader of the group, in addition to his appointment as the APC director-general for party outreach, engagement and mobilisation.
He said the dual role places Imo at the centre of national party mobilisation efforts and policy advocacy, with heightened responsibility on party stakeholders to sustain unity and effective communication.
Opiah outlined the core responsibilities of the newly inaugurated LGA coordinators to include grassroots sensitisation, mobilisation of party supporters, defence of reform policies and structured engagement with community-based organisations.
He said the coordinators would work closely with traditional rulers, youth leaders, women groups, market unions and professionals, using town hall meetings and community forums to explain government programmes and gather public feedback.
Addressing concerns over the initial impact of reforms of the Federal Government, Opiah acknowledged that policies such as the removal of fuel subsidy imposed short-term hardships, but insisted that the decisions were necessary to stabilise the economy and redirect resources to critical sectors.
He said the outcomes of the reforms were already visible, pointing to increased monthly allocations to states, improved fiscal capacity and expanded funding for infrastructure and social intervention programmes.
According to him, Imo State has leveraged the improved fiscal space to invest in road construction, healthcare delivery, educational facilities, security infrastructure and urban renewal projects across several local governments.
Opiah said the Renewed Hope Ambassadors have a duty to clearly link federal reforms to state-level development, stressing that policy advocacy must be grounded in tangible outcomes that citizens can see and assess.
He emphasised that the group is not a rival structure within the APC but a complementary platform designed to strengthen party mobilisation and public trust in government.
Opiah said membership and leadership positions within the group were based on commitment to party ideals, grassroots experience and capacity for mobilisation, rather than personal political ambition.
He charged the coordinators to remain accessible, listen to community concerns and engage opponents respectfully, noting that democratic advocacy is driven by persuasion and performance, not intimidation.
He also urged members to support peace-building efforts in the state, commending the improved security situation which, he said, allowed residents and visitors to celebrate Christmas and New Year peacefully across Imo communities.
Opiah reaffirmed the group’s loyalty to President Tinubu and Governor Uzodimma, adding that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors would intensify grassroots engagement, voter education and policy communication ahead of future political activities in the state.
