A group under the aegis of the Owerri Federal Constituency Youths Forum has endorsed High Chief Okey Amadi (KSC), Nwachinemere 1 of Obibiezena Ancient Kingdom, for the Owerri Federal House of Representatives seat ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a statement jointly signed by its President, Clifford Obijiru and Secretary, Nnamdi Ike, the group declared that Amadi, an aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is “best suited to represent Owerri Federal Constituency at this critical time.”
The youths described him as a leader with the “capacity, ability and competence” required to guarantee genuine and effective representation in the Green Chamber, stressing that the constituency needs a lawmaker who understands grassroots realities.
“High Chief Okey Amadi has consistently demonstrated commitment to community development and youth empowerment. We are convinced that he possesses the legislative insight and network to attract federal presence to Owerri Federal Constituency,” the statement read.
According to the forum, Amadi’s track record in philanthropy, support for small businesses and engagement with traditional institutions sets him apart from other aspirants positioning for the 2027 race.
The group said its endorsement followed consultations across wards in Owerri Municipal, Owerri North and Owerri West, adding that many young people in the constituency are seeking a fresh, focused and accessible representative.
“We are not just endorsing a name; we are endorsing vision, accessibility and accountability. Owerri youths want a representative who will sponsor people-oriented bills and ensure federal projects are not diverted,” the youths stresses.
They added that the forum would mobilise support across polling units to ensure that the ADC aspirant secures both his party’s ticket and victory at the general election, noting that the endorsement signals the beginning of broader youth-driven political participation in the constituency.
Amadi, who is also known by his traditional title Nwachinemere 1 of Obibiezena Ancient Kingdom, has indicated interest in contesting the Owerri Federal Constituency seat in 2027, joining a growing list of aspirants preparing for what is expected to be a keenly contested race.
