*Inaugurates Nwosu As Secretary
As preparations for the 2027 general elections in Imo State gather momentum, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Okigwe Zone has stepped up internal coordination efforts with a strategic meeting held on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
The meeting, which brought together key stakeholders across the zone, focused on strengthening party structures, deepening membership drive, and aligning grassroots mobilisation ahead of the electoral cycle.
Central to deliberations was the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise, with party leaders urging both old and prospective members to take advantage of the digital platform to formalise their membership status.
The State Vice Chairman of the zone, Chief Ambassador Chuks Ajaelu (JP), stressed the urgency of the exercise, calling on party faithful to actively mobilise support and ensure widespread participation. He specifically encouraged members to visit the official PDP portal at www.pdpnigeria.org and follow due process to register.
Ajaelu noted that the credibility of the party’s database and its electoral strength would depend largely on the success of the e-registration process, describing it as a critical foundation for future political engagements.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for the forthcoming South East zonal congress scheduled to hold in Enugu, with emphasis on ensuring that delegates from Okigwe Zone are adequately briefed and mobilised.
Party leaders underscored the importance of logistics, coordination, and discipline among delegates, stressing that the zone must present a united and organised front at the congress.
The high point of the gathering was the formal inauguration of Hon. David Nwosu as the new Zonal Secretary, a move party officials described as strategic to reposition the zone’s administrative machinery.
In his remarks, Nwosu pledged to bring diligence, inclusiveness, and renewed energy to the role, assuring members of his commitment to strengthening internal cohesion and advancing the party’s interests in the zone.
The meeting was attended by prominent PDP leaders from Isiala Mbano, Local Government Area party chairmen led by Hon. Emeka Alex Ubenwunne, as well as members of the zonal executive committee, with participants reiterating the need for unity, discipline, and sustained grassroots engagement as the party repositions for 2027.
