Stakeholders and people of Owerri Nchi Ise (Owerri Municipal) has announced plans to host a grand civic reception in honour of its illustrious son, Hon. Sir Macdonald Ebere, PhD, following the successful completion of his tenure as the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Chairman.

The event, billed as a high-profile gathering of political leaders, stakeholders and community figures, is scheduled to hold on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Old Township Stadium along Tetlow Road in Owerri.

Organisers say the reception is designed not only to celebrate Ebere’s leadership within the APC but also to recognise what they described as his “numerous contributions” to the development of Owerri and Imo State at large.

According to the invitation notice circulated by the planning committee, the ceremony will commence at 12 noon and is expected to draw a large crowd, including top government officials, party loyalists and traditional leaders.

The Central Planning Committee, led by High Chief Reginald Nwakom Ejiogu, who serves as the convener, said the event reflects the collective appreciation of Owerri Nchi Ise for Ebere’s service and political impact.

Other key members of the organising team include Hon. Sir Victor Ekeocha, JP, who is serving as secretary, alongside Hon. Bldr. Chidiebere Emeribe, the Executive Chairman of Owerri Municipal Council.

Also listed among prominent figures coordinating the event are Rt. Hon. Barr. Ernest Ibejiako, the Commissioner for Tourism, and Hon. Uche Ebere, Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment.
