Amuneke Reacts As Heartland Miss NPFL Promotion

Head coach of Heartland FC, Emmanuel Amuneke, has expressed disappointment following the club’s failure to secure promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The former Super Eagles winger said the team would take time to assess its performance over the just-concluded season and use the lessons learned to improve in the next campaign.

Heartland ended their 2025–26 Nigeria National League (NNL) season on a positive note, edging Crown FC 1-0 in their final fixture.

Despite the victory, the Naze Millionaires fell short of the points required to earn promotion, finishing the season with 27 points from 16 matches.

Reflecting on the outcome, Amuneke admitted the need for a thorough review of the team’s overall performance. “We will go back and reflect on our performance throughout the season before we can move forward,” he told Puyaka.

He, however, remained optimistic about the future, stressing that the club would stay committed to its long-term strategy. “We will continue to rely on the process in order to achieve our objectives in the future,” Amuneke added.
