Despite the non release of the names of winners of last Saturday’s Primaries for Chairmanship aspirants in the All Progressive Congress, APC, there are strong indications that those who lose out may seek political refuge elsewhere or possibly head to the Coalition in Imo APC.
Despite the fact that the primaries were conducted through option A4, some aspirants fear that they may be shortchanged on the grounds that some members of Imo State House of Assembly and top officials of the government do have preferred candidates for the Council polls.
However fear of a backlash and possible defection is said to be one of the key factors why the Rochas Okorocha faction of the party led by Chris Oguoma is withholding the names of winners of the primaries.
This is coming on the heels of reports that some of the aspirants who won the option A4 primaries may be dumped for “anointed” candidates.
In recent times, the Okorocha faction has been shaking over the turn around of political events in Imo APC which tend to favour the Coalition. Source said the names of the winners of the Chairmanship Primaries may not be released after the national convention of the party scheduled to hold on July 23.
Last week, Governor Okorocha’s Special Adviser on Trade and Investment, Rex Anunobi was sacked. He was alleged to have dumped the Governor’s camp for the Coalition.
In his thank you message, he thanked the Imo State Governor for giving him the opportunity to serve the State.
