The Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has distanced itself from claims by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Rochas Okorocha, Sam Onwuemedo that the party is behind the One million man anti Imo State government march organized by Rt Hon Kelechi Nwagwu, a former Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly.
The party in a statement signed by its publicity Secretary, Damian Opara, in reaction to the allegations stated that Hon. Nwagwu is a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Imo State and not of the PDP.
The PDP said “Ordinarily the Peoples Democratic Party Imo State Chapter would have ignored such misinformation coming from an uninformed mind, but for the purpose of clarity and proper information to the general the public and relevant security agencies in Imo State”
“We wish to state categorically that the Peoples Democratic Party Imo State Chapter led by Barrister Charles Ezekwem as state chairman and His Excellency, Senator Ahmed Makara’fi as chairman National caretaker Committee has nothing to do with the Monday, 3rd July, 2017 march/rally which is being organized by well known members of APC in Imo State against the bad governance by the APC led government of Imo State”
“It is a known fact that the organizers of the March/rally are being led by Rt. Hon. Kelechi Kennedy Nwagwu, an APC Chieftian in Imo State, a former Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly”
The party wondered why the Chief Press Secretary to Governor, Sam Onwuemedo is pointing accusing fingers at the PDP when “In fact Rt. Hon Nwagwu has consistently continued to own-up being responsible for organizing the march/rally”
The statement continued “Comrade Jeff Nwoha, an appointee of government of Imo State is organizing the counter march/rally.
“The question now is where did the Senator Ahmed Markara’fi led PDP Imo State Chapter come into this purely APC affairs.
The entire PDP Imo State led by Barrister Charles “Ezekwem is not in any way part of the march/rally, and indeed anything that shall cause the breakdown of law and order in Imo State, thereby adding more problems to the already suffering and traumatized Imo people which is caused by the bad administration of the Present APC Government in Imo State.
“We call on all the security agencies to do the needful by ensuring the proper security of lives and property of Imo people by not allowing any person or group of persons to cause chaos in Imo State.
