Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations), Government House, Owerri, Engr.Kingsley Uju has denied reports in the media that he said Okigwe and Owerri Zones should go to hell. In other words, he meant that the two zones will be of importance to the quest of Orlu Zone to retain the Imo State governorship seat in 2019.
Uju in a statement signed by his media aide, Jeo Chimezie he said “the report was false and a fabricated article.
The statement titled Re: “Imo Governorship 2019: Owerri and Okigwe Zones Can Go To Hell”, recalled “that on Saturday, 12th August, Nkwerre country club hosted all politicians from Orlu zone to a Political Summit organized by a Central Committee under the leadership of Elvis Agukwe to chat a new course and deliberate on the way forward for Orlu zone. Speakers took turn to deliberate and preach on unity and the way forward for the zone come 2019. At the end, they resolved to come together as one united and indivisible zone”
He said it was shocking to read on the social media an injurious narrative on Monday 14th August, 2017 credited to him.
The statement reads in part:
“To set the records straight, Hon. Uju Kingsley is not the type who talks carelessly; his speech skills extend beyond his delivery. He is highly articulate – he has a good mental library of words and his memory enables him to access the right words when required. His attention to detail is incisive. His judgment skills appear to be very good and he clearly has outstanding expression. He is very able at expressing his intent and expressing words that efficiently describe his message. He is also not ignorant of the fact that no one can win an exalted position like the governorship election without the input of other zones. The perpetrators of such blackmail are not just out to tarnish the rising profile of Hon. Uju Kingsley but to cause disaffection and hatred between him and the other zones.
“Such blackmail is not worth the paper on which it was written, we challenge the political jobbers who wrote this to provide video or audio evidence for the world to listen”
Uju, who is the Chairman, Bureau of Lands, Survey and Urban Planning reproduced his comments at the event.
“If the 12 Local Government areas that make up Orlu zone unite among themselves, they need not to go crying or begging for votes within the 12 Local Government area because the work His Excellency has done is enough to guarantee 30, 000 votes which when calculated for each of the Local Government multiplied by 12, we have about 360, 000 votes and that is enough to actually work in tandem with other zones to determine who becomes the next governor not as where those who controlled the processes of the 2015 elections in the state with federal might produce 150, 000 votes through rigging, though they claimed rigging is part of the electoral process”…
“We are happy as a zone for the economic integration, we have all it takes as an oil producing zone, and if we have an economic integration that covers the 12 Local Government areas that make up Orlu zone it will boost the economic activities of the zone”… “I don’t see the reason why youths of Orlu zone cannot unite among ourselves and get up to 30, 000 votes from each of the 12 Local Governments in support of whoever that emerged as the governorship candidate; coming together gives Orlu zone an edge”.
“Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima described the peddlers as senile and criminally minded and stated the Rescue Mission Government of His Excellency; Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha believes in the unity of the state and by extension the 3 geopolitical zones. And no zone can be disregarded or ignored, hence the Rescue Mission’s laudable projects across the 3 Geo-political zones in the areas of free and quality education scattered in the 3 Geo-political zones, including building new universities and schools like, the Eastern Palm University, Ogboko: Aboh MbaiseNgor Okpala University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine; Maritime University Oguta (now handed over to Navy); College of Education Ihitte-Uboma, School of Health, Okporo and others too numerous to mention, Gov. Okorocha has to his credits more than 600 kilometres of urban roads and more than 1000 kilometres of rural roads, infrastructural development etc. In the area of human capital development and empowerment, Gov. Okorocha has empowered 305 youths and women drawn from the 3 Geo-political zones”
“Those who are not comfortable with the rising profile of Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima should leave him alone, he has so far demonstrated to be a pure democrat and is vested with the responsibility of assisting His Excellency in bringing dividends of democracy to the people. He believes in winning election through the ballots and not rigging as alleged.
The “Pull Him Down Politicians”, who have no electoral value anywhere aside seeking for relevance, scavenging for every political crumb and looking for cheap recognition in the corridors of power should not bring Hon. Uju Kingsley into their dirty and out dated kind of politics”
“He has warned those who are bent on tarnishing his image to desist from it as such won’t be tolerated any longer and further attempt from anyone one or group would be faced with legal actions” the statement concluded
