  • RAP had stirred political tension in the State when it challenged Governor Uzodinma’s nomination as candidate of the APC

The Reform Advancement Party, RAP, has withdrawn it’s suit at the Federal High Court, Abuja, seeking judicial interpretation of section 177 (c) of the Constitution of the Federal Repbulic of Nigeria 1999 (as ammended)

2019 governorship candidate of the party, Barr Okere Kingdom, in the suit queried Governor Hope Uzodinma’s nomination as governorship candidate of the APC after the Supreme Court, had nullified the candidature of Uche Nwosu, for dual nomination, as governorship candidate for the APC and AA.

The matter was due to come up on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 for further hearing.

In a notice of discontinuance of the matter, the plantiff, Barr Okere, urged the court to strike out the case.

He gave no reason(s) for his action.

The matter had generated heat in the political landscape of the State, as Okere had prayed the court to declare Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP, as winner of the 2019 governorship election, on the grounds, that Senator Hope Uzodinma could not have been candidate of the APC since Uche Nwosu was disqualified for dual nomination by the Supreme Court.
