Imo State born Hon Chief Chuks Ajaelu (PHF), has been elected the National Co- coordinator, National PDP Professional and Business Group, NPPBG.
The NPPBG is a group of eminent Nigerians, who have excelled in various businesses and other profession and have remained part and parcel of the Peoples Democratic Party, Nigeria’s leading opposition Party.
Ajaelu, before he was elected National Co- ordinator of the group, was South East Co-coordinator of the organization.
He is a top chieftain of the PDP in Imo State, having vied for the party’s Chairmanship position.
In a keenly contested election which was held in Abuja at the weekend alongside the group’s 4th National Convention/Election, Ajaleu polled 105 votes to defeat his closet rival, Amb. Moses Kolawole, popularly called MKO, from Osun State, who secured 70 votes.
Hajia Hadiza Baba Useni was elected the Deputy National Co- ordinator of the group alongside other National Working Committee, NWC members
Each of the 36 states in the federation had five delegates each including the FCT.
Speaking after his emergence as national coordinator of the group, Ajaelu appreciated God and his colleagues for making his aspiration and intention to come to pass.
He also expressed gratitude to his supporters who voted for him by shunning religious considerations and ethnic leanings.
He pledged allegiance to the PDP which the NPPBG is part of, assuring that he will continue with the initiatives and programmes of the past executives.
He promised that he will add vigour to the group and embark on aggressive membership drive.
“Under my leadership, the NPPG will be carried along in the scheme of things of our great and beloved party, the PDP” Ajaelu said after his victory.
Among those who witnessed the election include top PDP leaders such as the former governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu who was Chairman of the event, a former member of the House of Reps from Imo State, Hon Jones Onyeriri, who was the guest Speaker.
Hon. Onyeriri had delivered a paper with the caption “Presentation Of Professionals in Politics”
Senator Dino Melaye was represented at the event which also had in attendance the Acting PDP National Chairman,Elder,Yemi Akinwonomi.
Others present at the event to show solidarity to the Hon Ajaelu include PDP Okigwe zonal Chairman,Chief Chidi Dike, former Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Lawman Duruji and Sir Stanley Ekezie, Director General, Ikeoha Campaign Organization, Amb Ajachukwu
