2023 Labour party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has made it clear that he is not in talks to become Atiku Abubakar’s running mate for the 2027 elections, stressing his own presidential ambition.
“ I don’t believe in assumptions. I am part of the Coalition that will produce a competent president with the capacity & the compassion to save this country,” Obi said in Channels Tv prgramme on Sunday, Politics Today
He also defended his involvement with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition amid questions about party loyalty. “Working with ADC coalition not anti-party,” he insisted.
Obi emphasized the coalition’s unity, stating, “We at the ADC coalition have all agreed to work together ahead of the 2027 election.”
On the possibility of playing second fiddle to Atiku, Obi was emphatic: “Nobody has discussed being Atiku’s running mate with me. I am going to run for president,” Obi concluded, signaling his determination to contest in 2027.
